Emma Bowes was just 19 when she was diagnosed with this potentially fatal illness, that can kill within a matter of weeks, or even days. Through sheer determination, an unshakable faith and with the extraordinary love and the support of her family and friends, Emma survived the ravages of repeated chemotherapy and radiotherapy and triumphed over disease.
“For some people, they say, the glass is always half empty. For others it is half full. Well mine is the glass that you have to pick up v-e-r-r-y slowly or risk it brimming eagerly over the edge in a wayward stream... And when the glass is always that full, you see, there is no room for Bad Things. If they blow your way you let them drift on by, or kiss the frog to fairy prince, or dust the lining of the cloud with silver. But sometimes the Bad Thing is Really Bad and even if you screw it up very tight and small it is bigger than you are. And then the only thing to do is come out and fight. And all the time you are balancing that shining glass so precariously in your hands because you know that what you carry could not be more valuable if it were liquid gold. And all of a sudden you realise that that is what you are fighting for and that you would lay down your life for it because without your Spirit you have nothing and the Demons have won the war. And that can never be..........
