Demand for family homes reaches new peaks! 53% of population vote homes as their preferred investment choice

Family homes are falling into short supply according to new homes website Smartnewhomes.com. Whilst the government have implemented a number of cash injection schemes to help increase sales and property developments, the number of available family homes is still falling.

Speaking on the need for the government to take action and provide additional support for families, Smartnewhomes.com then went on to reveal how the number of semi-detaches built during the last year has declined by 73%. A reduction that has sent a ripple effect across the property market.

During February, only 8% of new builds catered for families needs – as opposed to the 56% of new apartments that came into development during that same period.

Yet despite this distinct difference in building quotas, when homeowners were surveyed about their property preferences, they were found to hold a different view entirely. More than 53% of them said that they would prefer to invest in a house than an apartment, 14% more than those who listed apartments as their favourites.

Bearing these figures in mind, the government is overlooking a greater proportion of homeowners than they ever previously thought.
