Homeowner confidence appears to be up given the recent rises in asking prices.

Property agents are reporting that property asking prices are at an all new high, having gone up by 0.5% to an average of £243,737 this month.

Similarly the number of properties for sale has risen by 8.1% in regions outside of London, even though supply is still 30% less than it was in April 2007.

Commenting on their research, property portal Rightmove also made the following revelations:

• South West – whilst supply is down 5.5% compared to last year, they have seen a record rise in asking prices of up to £270,735
• The South East and East Anglia are only £810 and £2,489 off their previous peaks
• Wales, the North West and Yorkshire and Humberside are some of the few regions to see drops of 1.5%, 1.2% and 0.2% respectively

Examining these statistics it is easy to see a growing divide between asking prices for property investments in the South and those in the North.

With demand and lack of supplies prompting regions to bump up their asking prices, this divide will only get bigger.
