Property Prices Prompt Younger Generations To Stay At Home
With property investments continuing to remain out of the price range of first time buyers, this has prompted an increase in the number of 20-30 year olds still living at home with their parents.
In fact, according to the Office for National Statistics the number of people aged between 20 and 34 years old who are still in the family home has risen by 20% since 1997.
Yet what is most interesting about these statistics is the proportion of men to women still at home…

Continuing in their research the Office for National Statistics also revealed that:
- Young men are 2/3 more likely to be living with their parents in their 20-30s than young women
- More than 1.8 million men (1 in 3) in this age group are currently living in their parental home
- 1.1 million women (1 in 6) in this age group are still living at home
- Men unable to live in the parental home due to work are more likely to lodge with another family
- Men are twice as likely to live as a lodger with another family than women
