Q: Who is Responsible for Paying the TV Licence
Is it the landlord or the tenant who is responsible for paying the TV licence?
A: This decision is based on who provides the TV. If the landlord for instance supplies a TV to the property as a goodwill gesture then by law it is their responsibilty to ensure that their property let has got a valid TV licence. However, if the tenant supplies a TV to the property it is then their responsibility to meet this TV licence payment.
The only exception to this rule, is if the tenants tenancy agreement states that it is the responsibility of the tenant to purchase a TV licence.
